Benjamin Hunter Ogburn, III

Benjamin Hunter Ogburn III (Benny) went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2020. Born in Lawrenceville, VA on September 8, 1942. Benny lived in Troutville,VA for over 50 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara Kay Ogburn; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Kay & Richard Grosskopf, Davidson, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Donnie & Louise Ogburn, Chesapeake, VA; cousin, John Jordan (Peggy), Staunton, VA; grandsons, Jackson, Cole and Joshua Grosskopf. Benny worked for Norfolk & Southern Railway in Roanoke, VA for over 30 years as an accounting clerk. He took great pride in his accuracy. He retired in 2002. Benny was an active member of the American Kennel Club and had a love and extensive knowledge of Alaskan Malamutes. He participated in many dog shows as a dog owner and as a judge. He could talk to anyone about dogs for hours and loved every minute of it. He also enjoyed his recent cat companions, Kallie and Keokee. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 10 at Oakwood Cemetery in Lawrenceville, VA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the World Wildlife Fund in his name.
