Bettie Ann Kessler Nunnally

She adored children, opened her home and her table to many – and even had a street light installed in her yard so kids could play safely in the twilight hours. Her love for children extended to her eventual work at Fort Lee’s Childcare Development Center. Who was she to us? A wonderful, always praying, making it from scratch, popsicle bearing, car overflowing, mom. Others knew her by Bettie Ann Kessler Nunnally. She was the widow of James H. Nunnally Sr. and the daughter of Nellie and Oscar J. Kessler Sr. The mother of Jim (Pat), David, Tracy (Bill), Robyn (Wayland), and she loved to talk about and with her grandchildren: Tommy, Larry, Kenny, Candice, Lindsay (David), Nicolas, Sydney, and Will … and her greats: Ella and Luna. On November 13, 2021, she was restored to perfect health. We can only imagine the comfort as she was welcomed into her eternal existence and her joy as she is experiencing much anticipated reunions! Our family is grateful for the thoughts, prayers, and support of care providers, Bon Secours Hospice, and all of our people! Your love nurtured her and it continues to nurture us. In honor of her life, we ask that you simply perform an act of kindness. If you are compelled to make a donation, she loved her church, Kenwood United Methodist in North Dinwiddie County or that you consider a donation to an organization supporting Alzheimer’s research/support. We are planning a service to honor our mother’s life at a later date and hope that you will join us when it is announced. We wish you comfort and peace … and a smile as you reflect upon her life.
