**THIS IS A REVISED OBITUARY** It is out of an abundance of caution and a desire to keep our friends and family safe that we have decided to move the funeral for Charlie Roberts to Saturday, March 13, at 11:00 a.m. due to Covid-19 related complications. Charles Anthony Roberts, age 82, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away at his home on Monday, March 1, 2021. He was one of five children born to the late Norman Early and Mildred Carlisle Roberts, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Norman Roberts. Charles served in the U.S. Marine Corps and later retired from the Army National Guard of Virginia. He was a machinist by trade, and could make or fix just about anything. A dedicated servant of the Lord, Charles was a longtime member of Western Heights Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, and where he and his wife, Jean, taught the youth Sunday school class for several years. He also went on many missions trips around the world. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, and relic hunting. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who loved God, his family, his country, and his neighbors. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean Lamm Roberts; daughters, Tammy Roberts Samuelson and Angela Roberts Daniels and husband, George Arthur “Artie” Daniels; grandchildren, Shannon Ezzell Wells (Adam), Chad Edward Croft, Nikki Daniels Russell, Nathan George Daniels, and Jeremy Thomas Samuelson; great-grandchildren, Easton, Alise, and Rayna; brother, Richard Roberts; sisters, Betty Woodlief and Evelyn Eley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Southlawn Memorial Park. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Western Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Dundalow officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. Services are by Williams Funeral Home & Crematory of Lawrenceville, VA.
