David Luther Henshaw

David Luther Henshaw, Sr. age 86, of Sutherland, VA, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark L. and Elsie Aliff Henshaw; his wife of 55 years, Betty Jo Henshaw; a son, Butch Henshaw; siblings, Lorraine Horning, Linwood Henshaw, Gene Henshaw, and Carolyn Henshaw.

Mr. Henshaw enjoyed the outdoors and was known as an avid gardener. He loved to fish and taught each of his grandchildren to fish. He also enjoyed cooking and sharing his love of food with others. He was a hardworking man and enjoyed a long career as a residential building contractor. He was known as a kindhearted man who was always willing to help others. Above all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Henshaw is survived by his children, JoAnn Johnson (Jesse), Laura Avery (Mike), Greg Henshaw (Ashley); grandchildren, Melissa Kleriotis, Jessica “Nikki” Johnson, Forrest Avery, Tiffany Henshaw, and Maddy Henshaw; a great-granddaughter, Aurora Kleriotis; brothers, Gilbert Henshaw, Horace Henshaw, Phillip Henshaw, Raymond Henshaw, Donnie Henshaw; sisters, Juanita Turner and Gloria Heath, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Central Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. The interment will be private.
