Donna Mann McFarland

July 15, 1949 — August 16, 2024

Donna Mann McFarland, born July 15, 1949, passed peacefully at home on August 16, 2024, with family by her side. She was born and raised in Dinwiddie, Virginia.

Preceded in death by father Donald Jefferson Mann, mother Rose Marie Mann, husband Robert McFarland III, and granddaughter Kamron McFarland.

She is survived by daughters Mindy (Doug) Stell, Kieland (David) Clay, Brandy (Kevin) Ramsey, and son Robert (Jenna) McFarland, grandsons Owen Ramsey, Riley Ramsey, Trigg Ramsey, granddaughters Maggie Stell, Allie Mathews (Elijah), Remington Ramsey, Lillian McFarland, and two great granddaughters Amelia and Charlotte Mathews, as well as her sister Judy (Ricky) Bowles, nephew James, niece Channing, great niece Kinsley, great nephew Asher and several lifelong friends and cousins.

Her world revolved around her family and was her passion. She spent all her time making sure her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were taken care of no matter the situation. She instilled in her children to love one another as you want to be loved. She adored her sons-in-law, and her daughter-in-law was another one of the girls.

Donna was artistic beyond imagination through painting, gardening and photography. She enjoyed creating and working in her gardens. Her most recent creation was helping plan and host her granddaughter’s wedding in her gardens. She was an interior decorator and enjoyed helping others explore ideas of color and fabrics. She had an eye for picking out the right colors and fabrics for so many clients. She displayed her many talents throughout her home, including the many photography projects of the grandkids, and her ability to paint just about anything, all while teaching the grandkids her craft.

Her favorite time of year was Christmas, and her home was never short of décor to show her love of the season. She even carried the ring tone of Jingle Bell Rock year-round to remind her of the season.

We will miss her deeply, but she has taught us all, this is not the end, it is just the beginning of creating new memories and to always keep making them together with family and friends.

The family will host a visitation at her home Monday, August 19th from 6 to 8 pm. The celebration of life will be private.

The family would like to express thanks to the many nurses who helped care for her in Southside Medical Center and Chippenham Medical Center, as well as Crater Community Hospice. In lieu of flowers please donate to Crater Community Hospice or The Ronald McDonald House.
