Edith Yancey Barnes

Edith Yancey Barnes passed away June 30, 2019 after a short illness. Edith is preceded in death by her husband, of over 60 years, Herbert Gillette Barnes. Also preceding her in death were her parents Harry and Hazel Yancey of Alberta, Va; her birth mother Edith Hamilton Yancey; and a sister Evelyn Dale (Kenneth) of Colonel Heights, Va. She is survived by two children Brenda Bradsher (Tim) of Reston, Va.; Wayne Barnes (Ann) of Keller, Texas; two grandsons Scott Barnes (Angie) of Trophy Club, Texas; Ryan Barnes of Ft. Worth, Texas; a sister Barbara Ann Lewis of Alberta, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. Edith attended cosmetology school in Richmond, Virginia. She owned and operated her own salon in Alberta, Va. for over 60 years until her retirement at age 80. She was also an active member of Liberty Church in Lawrenceville, Va. and her community. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Church, 3381 Planters Rd., Lawrenceville, Va. Graveside services will follow at the family cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Liberty Church c/o Jean Browder, 3827 Planters Rd., Lawrenceville, VA 23868 or your charity of choice. Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville will be handling the arrangements.
