Evelyn Wall Carpenter

Evelyn Wall Carpenter, age 91, a longtime resident of Lawrenceville, VA, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023. Born and raised in Gasburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Eure Wall and Nannie Delbridge Wall. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Irma Wall Powell.  

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Johnie M. Carpenter; a daughter, Beth Carpenter (Dan O’Brien); a granddaughter, Brittany “Bea” Clark; bonus granddaughters, Sydney Webb and Marni O’Brien; siblings, Jewell Hughes, Eure Lee Wall (Hazel), and Harless Wall, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends.   

Mrs. Carpenter was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church and an active member of the Lawrenceville Lions Club for many years.

She was always kind and outgoing, never met a stranger, and loved to dance.  

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, Gasburg, VA, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
