Hazel Baird Bishop

Written by
HAZEL BAIRD BISHOP, age 94, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 3, at Brandermill Healthcare in Midlothian, Va. Affectionately known by her grandchildren as Meme, she spent the majority of her life at her beloved home in Rawlings, Va. Her husband, Claude Vernon Bishop, preceded her in death. Hazel is survived by her children Stephen T. Bishop (Toni), C.V. (Pete) Bishop, Jr.(Cydnie), and Brenda B. Raney (Hamlin), 11 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren, a sister, Shelby Jean Davis, sister in law, Marie Daniel and her dear friend, Josephine Campbell. Hazel was always a pillar of strength for her family, after losing her husband, at 44 years of age. She was a great cook, although she hated it, and a quiet listening ear, for those who needed one. A graveside service will be held, Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 11 a.m., Crestview Memorial Park, South Hill, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Vessels of Mercy International, 12081 Gayton Road, Richmond, Va. 23238 or Lebanon UMC c/o Shelia Duke, 966 Clifton Road, Rawlings, Va. 23876.

Tears and heartfelt sympathy to my dear friend, Brenda, her brothers Steve and Pete, and their families as they endure the loss of their dear mother, Hazel. This beautiful, loving and very wise lady was a joy to know, and although I was only a high school student when first meeting her, I always remembered her joyous smile and caring nature regarding others. Unreal the love that continued to pour from this tiny, little lady, every single day of her life. Feel blessed to have known her and enlightened by her examples over the years. I know Claude is glad you are with him once again. Thank you for enhancing our lives and know you will be sincerely missed. You are so loved.
