Danny Lawrence Lucy

Danny Lawrence Lucy, age 76, of Lawrenceville, VA, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021. A lifelong resident of Brunswick County, he was the son of the late Lawrence Edward and Ruby Lynch Lucy. Danny served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was the retired owner of Lucy’s TV and Appliance. He loved to dance and had a beautiful singing voice. He is survived by his loving companion of 30 years, Brenda Carrier Adcock; brother, Perry Lucy and wife, Kim; daughter, Danielle Lucy; and grandson, Reice. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for Danny during his stay at VCU Health in Richmond. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2021 at Williams Funeral Home & Crematory in Lawrenceville, VA.

Charles Anthony Roberts

**THIS IS A REVISED OBITUARY** It is out of an abundance of caution and a desire to keep our friends and family safe that we have decided to move the funeral for Charlie Roberts to Saturday, March 13, at 11:00 a.m. due to Covid-19 related complications. Charles Anthony Roberts, age 82, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away at his home on Monday, March 1, 2021. He was one of five children born to the late Norman Early and Mildred Carlisle Roberts, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Norman Roberts. Charles served in the U.S. Marine Corps and later retired from the Army National Guard of Virginia. He was a machinist by trade, and could make or fix just about anything. A dedicated servant of the Lord, Charles was a longtime member of Western Heights Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, and where he and his wife, Jean, taught the youth Sunday school class for several years. He also went on many missions trips around the world. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, and relic hunting. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who loved God, his family, his country, and his neighbors. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean Lamm Roberts; daughters, Tammy Roberts Samuelson and Angela Roberts Daniels and husband, George Arthur “Artie” Daniels; grandchildren, Shannon Ezzell Wells (Adam), Chad Edward Croft, Nikki Daniels Russell, Nathan George Daniels, and Jeremy Thomas Samuelson; great-grandchildren, Easton, Alise, and Rayna; brother, Richard Roberts; sisters, Betty Woodlief and Evelyn Eley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Southlawn Memorial Park. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Western Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Dundalow officiating. Randy Richard Wiley, Sr.

Randy Richard Wiley, Sr., age 66, a lifelong resident of Freeman, VA, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021. One of three sons born to John Thomas and Fannie Clary Wiley, Randy was a U.S. Army veteran, a proud farmer, and a member of American Legion Post 141. He was a retired mechanic and truck driver, most recently working for Powell Wood Products for 11 years. He will be remembered most as a loving and devoted family man. Randy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judith Ann Wiley; children, Kimberly Moody (Tommy), Bessie Moore (Douglas), Randy Wiley, Jr. (Amy), and Virginia Speer (Sean); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Richard, and Riley Moody, Anna, Taylor, and Ashley Moore, and Bella Speer, a great-grandchild on the way; brothers, Danny Wiley (Karen) and Terry Wiley (Cathy); an aunt, Edith Powell, several nieces and nephews, as well as his beloved dogs, Elsa and Belle. George Alton Clary, age 72, of Lawrenceville, VA, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021. George loved to hunt and fish, and was a retired truck driver. Doris Jane Kaylor Browder

Doris Jane Kaylor Browder of Dolphin, VA at age 96 peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 14, 2021. She was born December 26, 1924 in Lancaster, PA. She lived in Mount Joy, PA prior to marriage and moving to Dolphin, VA. She was the daughter of the late Irvin and Josephine Kaylor. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Henry Browder. She is survived by her daughter, Zoe Ann Browder and husband, Charles M. Taylor; her grandchildren Cody M. and Lauren E. Taylor whom she cherished; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She was a longtime member of Liberty Church, Lawrenceville, VA. She will always be remembered for her sweet smile, unlimited kindness and caring nature. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Williams Funeral Home & Crematory, Lawrenceville, VA with interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lawrenceville, VA. Mary G. James, 83, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away unexpectedly on February 15, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lee James, Sr.; her father, Henry Milton Turner; her mother, Annie Mae Turner; her brother, Henry Turner; and her brother-in-law, Dan James. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law whom she loved dearly, Wanda K. James. She wasn’t only the best wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she loved everyone she knew and welcomed everyone with a warm smile and a hug. She was a stay at home mother for the most part, taking care of her three boys whom she loved whole heartedly. She was a true angel on the ground to anyone who knew her. She is survived by her three sons, Thomas Lee James, Jr., William Lee James, Sr., and Johnny Dale James; three grandchildren, Kimberly James, William Lee James, Jr., and Kristina James. She has several great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ann Harville and her husband, Chuck Harville, a large extended family and way too many friends to name. Giles Elmo Whitlow, age 73, of Triplet, VA passed away February 11, 2021. He is the son of the late Saint Elmo and Josephine Whitlow. He is preceded in death by his grandchild, Riley Whitlow. He is survived by his wife Melissa Whitlow; his son Chuck Whitlow and fiancé Amy Barlow; his grandchildren, Jayden Jordan and Jewel and Heather Barlow; his sister, Deborah Wilson; his extended family, Jamie and Tonya Thomas and their daughter Skyler, Matthew and Angie Edwards, Terri Morton and Ronnie Parrish, Stephanie and Michael Tucker and son Evan; numerous nieces and nephews; and his furry friends. A graveside service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery, Triplet, VA. A blood drive will be held in memory of Giles. Dorothy Meta Nielsen

Dorothy Meta Nielsen of Valentines, VA, went to be with her Father on Valentines Day, 2021. She was born on December 13, 1938 to Henry and Berta Meinking and grew up in Queens, NY. On September 19, 1959, she married Nahmen Nielsen, whom she missed and was looking forward to seeing again. They had four children to whom she devoted much love and by whom she was tremendously beloved, Lore Nielsen, Linda Nielsen Hofmann, Eric Nielsen (Cherie Bate Nielsen) and Carl Nielsen (Patti Parker Nielsen). She adored her seven grandchildren, Tyler and Brent Hofmann, Joel, Noah and Anna Nielsen and Brian and Jane Nielsen. Her life was devoted to the service of others. She was generous and endlessly kind. “Oma” made sure that her family and all those who crossed her path knew that they were valued and loved. She was an active and integral part of ministering to others with her husband on Living Water Farm as well as serving in Haiti with Living Water Foundation. She enjoyed her garden and birds till the end of her life and they seemed to sense her nurturing nature and flourished around her home. James Anthony Pohlman

James “Jim” Anthony Pohlman, age 72, of Lawrenceville, VA passed away February 13, 2021. He is the son of the late Anthony Carl Pohlman and Elizabeth Cartwright Pohlman. He is survived by his wife, Beverley Pohlman; his sons, Nathan Pohlman and wife Charlotte and Jeffrey Pohlman and wife Michele; his grandchildren, Katie Clary, Haley Hutchins, Cheyenne Pohlman and Caroline Pohlman; and his brothers, David Pohlman and wife Janice, Michael Pohlman and Timothy Pohlman and wife Ellen. He is preceded in death by his sister Nancy Marshall. Jim was retired from the Department of Corrections where he was a Correction Captain. He served in the Navy and was a Petty Officer Second Class. A memorial service with military honors will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Williams Funeral Home & Crematory, Lawrenceville, VA. The family will receive friends after the service.
