James Cravath

James Cravath, age 83, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 at his home. A native of Dixon City, PA, he was the son of the late John and Josephine Modzelewski Cravath. He was also predeceased by siblings, John Cravath, Jr., Gerald Cravath, Steven Cravath, and Anthony Cravath.

Mr. Cravath retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps. His civilian career consisted of 30 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service.  He was a member of Concord United Methodist Church, Stony Creek, VA.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sylvia Rideout Cravath; a daughter, Theresa Cook; a son, John Cravath; grandchildren, Jessica Abel, Kayla Cook, Cassidy Cravath, and Parker Cravath; his siblings, Patsy Sabia, Connie Sdorow, and Gary Cravath.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2023 at Concord United Methodist Church, 16703 Walkers Mill Road, Stony Creek, VA 23882.
