James Leslie Eggleston, Sr.

James Leslie Eggleston, Sr., age 79, of Hopewell, VA, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022.Born in Petersburg, VA, he was the son of the late Rufus Henry and Nettie Griffin Eggleston. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Charles “Pete” Eggleston, William Eggleston, and Junior Eggleston, and a sister, Mary Cimburke. Mr. Eggleston retired from the City of Petersburg Department of Sanitation after 22 years of service and enjoyed trips to Tennessee to visit his sister Ann. He will be fondly remembered by his family as a loving husband and father. Mr. Eggleston is survived by his wife, Margaret A. Eggleston; his son, James “Jimmy” Eggleston, Jr.; sisters, Joyce Johnson and Ann Jones; sisters-in-law, Katherine Martinez, Betty Vinson, Diane Baggett, brother-in-law, Charles Woods. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2022 at West End Baptist Church, 6506 Boydton Plank Road, N. Dinwiddie, VA 23803. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West End Baptist Church, 6506 Boydton Plank Road, N.
