With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Karen Wall Scanlan, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and cherished friend. Karen departed from this world on May 9th, 2024, at the age of 66, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength.
Born March 11, 1958 in Newport News, VA, to Sarah and Verlon Wall, Karen lived a life filled with devotion to her family. Her greatest joy was found in the love she shared with her husband Kevin, her son Keaton, and her daughter Kendall. Together, they formed a bond that transcends time and space.
Karen is survived by her brother, Aaron Wall and his wife Linda, sons Jared and Jordan, and sister, Susan Parisher and her husband Jimmy, daughter Kelsey Brown, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. They will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
She pursued her education at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she excelled academically and formed lifelong friendships. After graduating, Karen embarked on a fulfilling career as a dental hygienist, where her gentle touch and caring demeanor brought comfort to her patients.
She found solace and happiness at Lake Gaston, a place that held a special corner in her heart and where she will find eternal rest. The memories created there with family and friends will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
Throughout her life, Karen and Kevin embarked on countless adventures, from camping beneath the stars, skiing in the mountains, and gliding across the water while sailing. Their shared love for exploration and nature created a tapestry of beautiful experiences that will endure in the hearts of those they touched.
But perhaps Karen's most enduring legacy lies in the kindness she exuded. She was the steadfast rock upon which her family leaned, offering unwavering support and unconditional love. Her gentle spirit and compassionate nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Though Karen may have bid farewell to this earthly realm, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May her memory be a beacon of light during these dark times, guiding us through our grief and reminding us of the profound impact she had on our lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in honor of Karen's memory.
A service for Karen's life will be held at Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Gasburg, Virginia on May 16th at 2:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at WatersView Restaurant, where friends and family can come together to honor and remember the remarkable woman she was.
