Leonard Franklin "Lee" Harrison, III

Leonard Franklin “Lee” Harrison, III, age 41, a lifelong resident of Dinwiddie County, VA, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 20, 2021. A wonderful loving husband, father, son, grandson, and friend, Lee was born February 6, 1980 in Petersburg, Virginia. An avid outdoorsman, he especially loved to hunt and fish and he shared these adventures with each of his children. At the age of 18, Lee experienced a traumatic burn injury, but he never allowed himself to be a victim. He began what would be the fight of a lifetime. What started with relearning to eat and walk independently, transformed into a man of character and strength that built a successful construction business as well as many other endeavors. Lee faced his disability with determination and tenacity. Shortly after his accident, Lee met the love of his life, Leann. Their life together for 18 years has been filled with support of their children’s hobbies in car and horse racing. Much of their time was spent together at race tracks where they developed a large extended family. Lee was an overcomer, a leader, and a difference maker. His work ethic and passion to live every day like it was his last led to success in what matters most. He will be deeply missed by all those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. To know Lee was to love him. He was preceded in death by a son Brennan Lee Harrison; maternal grandmother, Mary Clay; and paternal grandparents, Leonard and Doris Harrison. Lee leaves a lifetime of cherished memories for a loving family that includes his wife of 18 years, Leann Sanders Harrison; his children, Breanna Leigh Harrison, Leonard F. “Layton” Harrison, IV, and Tyler Ray Harrison; his father, L. F. Jr. and wife, Marie Harrison; his mother, Susan and husband, Chuck Little; sister, Marianne Barnett and husband, Mike; brothers, Jonathon Harrison and Daniel Wingler and wife, Brittany; maternal grandfather, Harry Clay, as well as many aunts uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Friends and family will gather for a special service to celebrate and remember Lee’s wonderful life. Please join us at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Western Heights Baptist Church. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Leonard F. Harrison III Memorial Fund at any branch of Touchstone Bank.
