Major Isiah Jones, Jr., age 71, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021. Born in Wilmington, NC, he was the son of the late Major Isiah and Inez Peterson Jones. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Jones and a special uncle, John Peterson.
A longtime resident of Dinwiddie County, Major was a member of Dinwiddie Volunteer Rescue Squad and Dinwiddie Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was a retired employee of Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Department. Major loved to fish, and for many years, was a coach of youth league sports in the county. He was a longtime member and Ruling Elder of Bott Memorial Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Cousins Jones; a son, Mike Jones and wife, Kim; daughters, Angela Jones Hancock and husband, Preston, and Lisa Jones Andusko and husband, Chris; grandchildren, C.J., Cody, Makayla, Grayson, Gracie, J.T., Nick, and Beckett, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Bott Memorial Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church, followed by interment in the church cemetery. The Reverend Doctor Katherine Jackson will officiate the service.
