Margaret Toth Lewis

August 10, 1933 — July 12, 2024

Margaret Ann Toth Lewis, 90, of Church Road, VA passed away on July 12, 2024 at Dunlop House, Colonial Heights, VA. She was born on August 10, 1933 in Chesterfield, VA and was the daughter of the late George Geza and Margaret Matyiko Toth. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Toth Smith and two brothers, George and Robert Toth.

Margie, as she was known to many, is survived by her three daughters, Cathy Williams (Joseph Plunkett), Lisa May (Michael) and Susan Webb (Paul); six grandchildren, Tonya Henshaw (Keith), Todd Williams (Ashley), Andrew May, Ashley Takane (Dan), Kristen Webb and Brandon Webb (Sarah); seven great-grandchildren, Ashton and Abby Henshaw, Kaitlyn, Addison and Grayson Williams, and Parker and Kai Takane; sister-in-law Jean Toth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Petersburg High School, Margie worked various administrative jobs around the Petersburg area before beginning a 33 year career in Civil Service at Fort Lee, VA, retiring as the Secretary to the Dean of the School of Acquisition Management, US Army Logistics Management College. After retirement, she was a strong presence in her grandchildren’s lives, always ready to give advice, babysit, chauffeur, correct homework, attend sporting events, dance recitals, birthday celebrations, high school and college graduations. She especially enjoyed hosting Easter and Christmas lunch with the entire family present and in her younger years hosted lunch every Sunday.

While still able to drive, Margie enjoyed going to dances, flea markets and shopping. Other hobbies included sewing, crocheting, reading, cooking, walking and playing cards and board games.

To honor our mother’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Her final resting place will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at Dunlop House who cared so much for our mother during her time there. In addition, we would like to thank Crater Community Hospice for their assistance during the past few weeks.
