Michael J. Boucher, age 70, of Freeman passed peacefully at home on March 21,2023 with his wife, Melissa, by his side after a lengthy illness. Michael was born in New York City but spent most of his life in Virginia and called Freeman his home with his wife of 39 years along with his four-legged friends. Many will know Mike from his days as a fishing guide on various waters and his expertise in teaching others his passion for catching trophy large and smallmouth bass. He and Melissa co-hosted a popular live call-in fishing show while residing in Richmond in the early 80’s. Later on, he managed East Coast Buildings in Emporia where he sold many people in the area custom buildings and gained many friends and customers throughout the years. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Melissa of the home, his sister Linda and her husband Bob of Memphis, his mother-in-law Estelle Link whom he called Mom, and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family as well as his beloved dog Abby. Mike was a track star in high school, served in Vietnam as a Certified Medic Specialist and Nurse, operated Bass Unlimited Guide service teaching many the art of fishing and boating on the James River, Kerr Lake & Lake Gaston. He loved Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, was a very humble man and found friends wherever he went. He will be greatly missed.
