Miles Ervin “Johnny” Johnson, III, age 73, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021.
He was a graduate of Prince George High School, where he was a drum major in the band and had the rare opportunity to march in the Orange Bowl Parade the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the Rose Bowl Parade. His love for music continued well beyond his school years. He played and sang in several area bands over the years to include Casino. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy McGee Fitzgerald and a daughter, Dawn Denise Johnson. He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Williams and husband, Stephen; two sons, Miles E. “Jay” Johnson, IV and wife, Cindy, and Michael Tyler Johnson; grandchildren, Elizabeth Kempf and husband, Jimmy, Philip Vargo, Taylor Johnson, and Miles E. Johnson, V; great-grandchildren, Hendrix Vargo, James Kempf, III, and John Kempf; siblings, Cindy Farmer and Spencer Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2021 at the old Smyrna Baptist Church, located behind Dinwiddie Elementary School at 18725 Carson Road, Dinwiddie, VA 23841. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rocky Run Athletic Association, 8190 Boze Road, Ford, VA 23850 or SPCA, 104 Pickwick Avenue, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
