Price McGuire Thomas, Jr.

Price McGuire (Bigshot) Thomas, Jr., 84, of Lawrenceville, Va, peacefully passed away at home with his family by his side, on August 7, 2021 after a courageous 15 year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.He was the son of the late, Price McGuire and Ruth Harris Thomas and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Thomas Robert Regal and Helen Thomas Moore (William “Squeak”) and Grandson, Matthew Edwards. McGuire is survived by his loving wife of 64 years , Gale Spiers Thomas, and twin sons, Robert Alan Thomas (Lita) and Richard McGuire Thomas; Grandson, Garret Hall Thomas (Taylor); Great Grandchildren, Mattison Jayde Thomas, Jaelyn Nicole Thomas, and Logan Blake Thomas. Plus extended family, Granddaughter, Stephanie Pulley (Kyle); Great Grandchildren, Ryan Segura and Arianna Segura; and numerous Nieces and Nephews. McGuire Retired, as a Store Manager with the Va ABC Authority, with 30 years of service. Previously, he was employed with the Town of Lawrenceville as a Police Officer for 7 years. McGuire was a Charter Member of the original Brunswick County Rescue Squad and was a member of the Lawrenceville Volunteer fire Department. McGuire was an avid outdoors sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing (both fresh water and salt) water) and golfing. He spent many hour in the Bottom at the Sonny Wholey Ball Park where he played in High School football and baseball and then coaching both Little League and Minor League with his beloved Padre’s and Yankee’s where his teams won Championships! The family would like to Thank the CMH Home Health & Hospice services of VCU. They also wish to give special Thanks for the loving care Linda Williams and Connie Morris gave over the years. A Celebration of Life will be held 3 pm, Wednesday August 11, 2021 at Williams Funeral Home, 410 Windsor Ave., Lawrenceville, Va 23868, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service with immediate family only at Oakwood Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lawrenceville Fire Department or Rescue Squad and the Lawrenceville United Methodist Church.
