Ralph Charles "Butch" Kaufman

Ralph Charles “Butch” Kaufman, age 76, a lifelong resident of Dinwiddie County, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Joseph and Evelyn Vaughan Kaufman, and his sister, Marilyn Kaufman Howerton. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet Chandler Kaufman; a son, Ralph Charles Kaufman, Jr. and wife, Cara; granddaughter, Dana Kaufman; brother, Robert Joseph Kaufman and wife, Barbara, sister-in-law, Glenda Coburn and husband, Gerry; brother-in-law, Johnny Howerton and wife, Cheryl; brother-in-law, Jim Chandler and wife, Linda, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Butch was a Navy veteran and former Grocery Manager at the Fort Lee Commissary before retirement. In retirement, he kept busy by painting houses for friends and loved making improvements to their homes. He also loved planting a small garden each year, growing tomatoes and potatoes. He was always humorous, caring and friendly to everyone. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2021 at Central Baptist Church. A private service will be held.
