Robert “Topper” Watson, 77 Beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, Outdoorsman, and Retired Architect
Lawrenceville, VA – Robert “Topper” Watson, 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Lawrenceville, Virginia. A devoted family man, passionate outdoorsman, and accomplished professional, Topper lived a full life rooted in service, sport, and serenity.
Preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Watson, he is survived by his brothers, Chipper Watson of Lacrosse, Virginia and Taylor Watson of Georgia; his son, Rob Watson of Tinton Falls, New Jersey; and his daughter, Jennifer Watson of Lawrenceville. Topper was a proud grandfather to Jayden and Jordan, who brought immense joy to his later years.
A man of many talents and passions, Topper was known throughout the region for his skills in fishing, hunting, and golf—earning numerous championships and tournament victories over the years. Whether on the lake with a rod in hand, walking the greens with a steady swing, or deep in the woods during hunting season, he found peace and purpose in nature.
Topper took great pride in his home and garden. He found satisfaction in the quiet moments spent tending to vegetables in his garden and keeping his lawn pristine.
Professionally, Topper dedicated his career as an architect, most recently with the U.S. Department of Military Affairs. His work left a lasting legacy, honoring the service of those who served our country.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation service at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, VA on Thursday, April 24th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A private post-cremation service will be held at a later date to honor his life and legacy.
