Robert Aubrey Wesson, Jr.

Robert A. Wesson, Jr., age 83, of Lawrenceville, VA, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024. A son of the late Robert A. Wesson, Sr. and Helen Darden Wesson, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Virginia Wray Wesson; son-in-law, Dwayne Hite; a granddaughter, Leah Brooke Comly and a sister, Geraldine Wells.

Mr. Wesson was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He operated Wesson Brothers Grocery in Lawrenceville for many years and was co-owner of Brunswick Mini Storage and Lawrenceville Mini Storage. As a young man, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. Later in life, he enjoyed watching westerns and spending time with his wife and family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

He is survived by a daughter Kimberly W. Hite; grandchildren; Brittany Lucy, Meghan Comly and husband Justin, Jessica Hite, Brandon and Ethan Hite; great-grandchildren, Kailynn and Madelyn Lucy, Layla, Charlotte, and Axel Comly, Kaycen and Kyland Hite; a brother, Ronnie Wesson and wife Debby; a sister, Nancy Hall and husband Sonny; brothers-in-law, Winfred “Buddy” Wray and Alfred Wells, and a devoted niece Rickelle Murray and husband Jamie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2024 at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, VA followed by interment at Bethel Church Cemetery, Alberta, VA. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 951 West Atlantic Street, Emporia, VA 23847.
