Sebastiano Sparacio

Sebastiano Sparacio, age 70, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023 after a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lidia Sparacio; his daughters, Maria Grazia and husband, Andrea Amato, and Anna Lisa and husband, Alessandro Iraci; grandchildren, Vito Amato, Luca Amato, Giorgio Iraci, and Davide Iraci; sisters, Vincenza and Sofia Sparacio. He was loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Giuseppe Sparacio.

Sebastiano, also known as “Benny,” was born in Carini, Sicily to the late Antonino and Grazia Sparacio. He came to the United States as a young man to pursue his lifelong dream of business ownership. He returned to Italy after two years and opened a grocery store which he operated for 35 years. In 1997, he returned to the U.S., settling in Dinwiddie County, and established Sebastiano Produce which remains a family run business today. He quickly became a well known and respected businessman in the area. His kindness and friendly personality allowed him to make many friends of all nationalities.   

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Petersburg Virginia. The family will receive friends prior to Mass, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Entombment will follow in the cemetery at St. John Catholic Church, Dinwiddie, VA.
