Steven Burnett Samford, age 60, of Richmond, Virginia passed away July 1, 2018. Steve began his 33 year career in the sales field when in moved to Raleigh, N.C. in 1985; where he worked for several car dealerships including Capital Ford and Leith Honda. He then progressed into the mobile home industry where he successfully managed a Palm Harbour Home dealership for several years. After the dealership was sold, he did a career change to mortgage lending. Never afraid to try anything, in 2005 he decided to invest his efforts in insurance sales, and started his own business Affordable Health and Life Insurance where he enjoyed the freedom owning your own business allowed. He was the son of the late Harrison and Odell Samford. Steve is survived by his three daughters, Megan Samford and husband Jeff Raper of Richmond, VA, Lauren Samford of Wilmington, N.C. and Rachel Samford of Raleigh, N.C.; his grandchildren, Naomi Van Schalkwijk and John-Logan Samford of Richmond, VA and William Busch of Wilmington, N.C.; his sister, Judy Britt and husband Donald of Alberta, VA; his nephews Ryan and Adam Britt; his uncle, Ronald Wright of Gasburg, VA and his aunt Betty Martha Poole. A graveside memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Bethel Church Cemetery, Alberta, VA. Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville will be handling the arrangements.
