William Edward "Billy" Maitland

William Edward “Billy” Maitland, age 51, a lifelong resident of Dinwiddie County, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022.He is survived by his mother, Wanda H. Bridgeman; his fiancée, Stephanie Caudill; his sons, Brodie McNeal Maitland (Meagan Bowles), Levi Trace Maitland (Madison McCray), Zacherie and Ashton Caudill; a special granddaughter, Aspen Neal Maitland; a brother, Floyd McNeal Maitland, Jr. (Tina Sprouse); two sisters, Tammy A. Walls (Chris) and Jamie L. Dempesis (Brian); nieces and nephews, Kiersten (daughter Charleigh), Karina, Kolleen, Savannah, Codie, Chase, Caleb, Jaelyn, Shawntae, Dana, Curtis, and Zion; former wife and mother of his children, Roxanne L. Maitland. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd McNeal Maitland, Sr. (Rose Fisher), and his step-father, Timothy David Ogburn. Billy was a two-time professional athlete, playing baseball within the Atlanta Braves organization, and playing golf on the Grey Goose Gateway Tour. He worked as an Operations Manager at Lineage Logistics for the last 15 years. He loved all sports, especially hunting, playing golf, and mud racing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially Miss Aspen Neal. Billy was very involved in his community and his contributions touched many lives in his 51 years here. He will be greatly missed by many. His legacy will live on. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Smyrna Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, VA.
