William Leonard "W.L." Lilly

William Leonard “WL” Lilly, age 52, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021.WL grew up in Chester and was a 1987 graduate of Thomas Dale High School where he was on the cross country team. During that time, he became interested in martial arts and learned under George and Gail Crump. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for eight years. He was a member of Chester Christian Church where he taught Sunday school for several years. Some of his favorite memories were of times spent hunting and fishing with his Dad and his daughter. WL was preceded in death by his father, David Lee Lilly; his maternal grandparents, Horace and Gloria Grigg; his paternal grandfather, Ulysses Lilly and wife, Ellen; and his wife, Mary Kay Lilly. He is survived by his daughter, Lindsey Lilly Mincks and husband, Talmadge; his mother, Kay Grigg Lilly; sisters, Tosha Lilly Ramkey and husband, Scott, and Heather Lilly Smith and husband, Wes; paternal grandmother, Mary F. Lilly; aunts and uncles, Cynthia Grigg Keller and husband, Chuck, Pat Mengerink (the late Ray), Nancy Layne and husband, J.C., J.D. Lilly and wife, Julie, Sime Lilly and wife, Sandy, and Anthony Lilly; nieces and nephews, Zachary Ramkey, Lexa Ramkey, Gabriel Smith, Samuel Smith, Nathanael Smith, Evey Jo Smith, and Ezekiel Smith; cousins, Lenn Cogle and wife, Elena, Glenn Lilly and wife, Jennifer, Jamie Fields and husband, Rob, Crystal Inglis and husband, Chris, John Daniel Lilly and wife, Tina, Mariann Rutherford, Paul Lilly and wife, Amanda, Michelle Crowder and husband, Norman, Brandi Bridges and husband, Joel; and his service dog, Diana. A private funeral service will be held at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to K9s for Warriors, P.O Box 865431, Orlando, FL 23866-5431.
