Frances graduated from Longwood College and taught school for several years before going to work for the federal Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (A.S.C.S.), in Lawrenceville, Virginia, where she worked until her retirement. She was an active member of the Southside Homemakers Club and in retirement was very active in the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), as well as serving in leadership roles at her retirement home, Brookdale Imperial Plaza, where she was on the Residents’ Council, and a member of the Imperial Plaza Foundation Board. The family would like to thank the staff at the Azalea Building for treating Mrs. Rawlings with kindness and love, as well as Dale Lipke and the hospice staff of Aseracare. The service for Frances will be held at Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, Virginia on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 2 PM with interment immediately following the service at the Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery.
