Dear Beverly and family
I was so sorry to get an email from Skip Matthews (class mate of 1958 at Perquimans H.S.) saying Billy had passed away. His health must have declined a lot since our last class reunion here in Hertford. It was good that you two attended and will always treasure that last reunion with him. Billy was a joy to have as a class mate. Everyone liked him! We didn't have a class reunion this year due to the COVID-19 outbreak. We'll miss him especially if/when we have another class reunion. I'm sorry for the sadness and sorrow you're going through at this time. I KNOW exactly what you're going through. In time, happy memories will take care of all this sadness but it won't happen overnight. Thinking of you all! Laura Elliott Dixon-1958 Class mate
Sending love and heartfelt prayers to Beverly and all of Billy’s loved ones.
May all the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring you peace and comfort in the days ahead.
Leslie and family, so sorry to hear of your Dads passing. Although it's been many years since I met Bill, I still remember how talented he was with wood working. Stay strong and cherish the memories.
Matt Johnson and family.
Shelly, there are not words good enough to express how sorry I am for the loss of your dad. I know how special he was. He was my 2nd dad for so many years while we were in college and starting our independent lives after we graduated. Every time he visited us at school or I went home with you for the weekend, he was always so happy, so sweet...his smile would light up the room. I remember he would always take us out to eat...and not just to any restaurant - he would take us to the Angus Barn! Always the best for his girls he would say. You couldn't help but love him...the big teddy bear. I know how much he meant to you...how close you two were. I wish there were something I could say to make this any easier for you. I know I can't. So please just know that I am here for you whenever you need me. Call me anytime - if you need to talk or cry or just talk about him. Any day, any time. I love you, Shelly, Please give your mom a big, long hug for me. Tell her that I love her, too. The love she and your dad had together was so special. They were both so lucky to have each other. I am praying for you and your mom and sister...for any kind of peace you can find through this time. Please remember I'm here for you.
Bill was like family to me. What an endearing and pleasant person. Always tried to find the best in people. I will always remember the time he persuaded Shelly and I to take a ride in his restored MGB convertible when I was sixteen. I did not know how to drive a manual. He said, “You’re a country boy aren’t you? You drive tractors. You’ll figure it out.” Who does that? Trusts his classic car and his daughter with a sixteen year old kid.
I am so sorry for your loss of Bill. Praying you will feel God’s arms around you.
