John Robert Marston, III

John Robert Marston, III, age 85, of McKenney, VA passed away June 8, 2019. He is the son of the late John and Irene Marston. He is preceded in death by his wife, Bernice M. Marston. He is survived by his daughters, Rita M. Townsend and husband Claude of McKenney, VA and Loretta M. Booth and husband Alvin of McKenney; his son, John R. Marston IV; his grandchildren, Lisa T. McCall of McKenney, Laura M. Walsh of Amelia, Jason and Joshua Booth of McKenney and Jeremy Townsend of McKenney; eight great grandchildren; his brother, Jerry Marston; his sisters, Sally Lewis, Patricia Lancaster, and Betty Lou Harmon; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2019 at Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, VA. The family will receive friends after the service. Linda Diane Lewis Lepow

Linda Diane Lewis Lepow, age 69, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away June 4, 2019. Linda is the daughter of the late William and Lucy Lewis. She is survived by her husband, Steven James Lepow; her son, William James Lepow and wife Terri; her daughter, Shannon Lynn Lepow Barger and husband Dustin; and her grandchildren, Steven Alexander Lepow, Cora Nichole Barger and Mahala Snow Barger. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville with interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lawrenceville. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 at the funeral home prior to the service. Calvin Ray Edmonds

Calvin Edmonds, age 60, of South Hill, VA passed away June 3, 2019. Calvin was a master printer and the Vice President of Edmonds Printing in Lawrenceville, VA. He was a member of James Square Baptist Church where he was Chairman of the Cemetery Committee and former Chairman of the Deacons. Calvin was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and mechanic who loved motorcycle drag racing. Woodworking was also a passion of his along with music and playing the drums. He is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Ferguson Edmonds and his brother and sister-in-law Kerry Wayne and Corrine Edmonds. He is survived by his father, Aubrey B. Edmonds; his wife Sylvia Clary; his brother Donnie Edmonds and wife Darlene; his step-daughter, Samantha Moody (Anthony); his step grandchildren, Harper and Will; his nieces and nephews, Jason Sweitzer, Michelle S. Lea, Danielle E. Bianchinotti and Benjamin Edmonds; his great nieces and nephew, Abby, Madalyn and AJ Sweitzer and Isabella, Gemma and Jordan Bianchinotti; and his faithful, always by his side companion, Peanut, who went to work with him every day. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Friday at James Square Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service. Cynthia Lynn Morefield Seward, age 57, of South Hill, VA passed away May 28, 2019. She is survived by her mother, Patsy Webster Morefield; her son, Joe L. Cora Clem Hancock, age 79, of Danieltown, VA passed away May 28, 2019. She is the daughter of the late Henry and Mattie Russell Clem and is preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, John Clem, Jr., George Clem, Nelson Clem, Ann Monroe and Charlotte Mugler. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James W. “Jimmie” Hancock; her son, James “JJ” Hancock, Jr. and wife Holly of Greenbelt, MD; her daughter, Leanne Hancock of Danieltown, VA; her brother, Wayne Clem of Dundas; and her beloved cat, Percy. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at New Hope Christian Church, Danieltown. Cathy Mayton Watson

Cathy Mayton Watson, 65, a life-long resident of Brunswick County, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019 in her Lawrenceville, Virginia home. Cathy was born on November 18, 1953 to Arthur & Lottie Mayton, also of Lawrenceville. Cathy was the heart and soul of her family and of her community. From her years at Peebles Department Stores, managing the company’s flagship location in downtown Lawrenceville, to her work in the bookstore and cashier’s office at Southside Virginia Community College, she thrived when she was surrounded by people. She is survived by her husband, Topper Watson, children Rob Watson of Clifton, New Jersey and Jennifer Watson of Emporia and her grandson Jayden Watson, also of Emporia. Visitation is planned for Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 6-8 pm at Williams Funeral Home. Cathy wanted to be cremated and no graveside service is planned. Dorothy Mae Chavis Hayes, age 86, of DeWitt, VA passed away May 15, 2019. She is the daughter of the late Ira and Ida Chavis. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Dennis Hayes; her brothers, Joseph Chavis and Dudley Chavis; and her grandsons, Fred Neville and Robert Hayes, Jr. She is survived by her children, Juanita H. Dorothy Spence Hall, age 83, of Lawrenceville, VA passed away April 27, 2019. She is the daughter of the late John and Irene Spence. She is preceded in death by her husband, Shirl Chappell Hall. She is survived by her two sons, Shirl C. Hall, Jr. and wife Francine and Robert Scott Hall and wife Annabell; her five grandchildren, Sarah Stearley (Matt), Rebekah Howard (Luke), Jody Hall (Laine), Rachel Jordan (Brandon) and Holden Hall; four great grandchildren, Hannah, Samuel, Avery and Greyson; her special friend, Charles Brooks; her sister, Barbara Harris; her brother, Wayne Spence; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy had retired as Manager of Bank of America in Lawrenceville and was a member of Lawrenceville United Methodist Church. She loved her family, gardening and being a member of the Red Hat Society.
