Marshall Wade "Peter" Gauldin

Marshall Wade “Peter” Gauldin, age 77, of Warfield, VA, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 13, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lee and Lillian Epperson Gauldin; and his siblings, Harold and Donald Gauldin, and Marian Williams. Marshall was a retired employee of DuPont and had a passion for woodworking. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Nancy Joyner Gauldin; children, Christopher Wade Gauldin (Douglas James), Alissa Nashwinter (Bill), and Beverly Brown (Matt); grandchildren, Emily Powers (Matt), Mary Lowe (Daniel), Taylor Nashwinter, and Libby Nashwinter; great-granddaughters, Katherine Powers and Evelyn Lowe. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Ebenezer Community Church, 242 Ebenezer Road, Warfield, VA 23889, followed by interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Herbert Edward Taylor

Herbert Edward Taylor, age 84, of Lawrenceville, VA, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021. Born in Freeman, he was the son of the late James Edward and Elna Ann King Taylor. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Elizabeth Duke. Mr. Taylor retired after 20 years of honorable service in the U.S. Air Force, including service in Vietnam. Following his military career, he worked for the Virginia Department of Corrections, retiring after 20 years of service. He then worked as a truck driver for McAden Dairy for several years. He was a member of Greentown Hunt Club and Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Ann Taylor; son, Anthony Wayne Taylor and wife Donna; daughter, Kathy Lynn Mabe and husband, Terry; grandchildren, Anthony Wayne Taylor, Jr. ( Christy), Daniel Thomas Taylor (Alli Ingenito), Katelynn Ann Taylor, Courtney Marie Lynch (Zack), Taylor J. Browder (Laura), Joshua Browder (Courtney), and Noah Mabe, three great-grandsons; a sister, Lillian Deloria Jones; brother-in-law, David Duke, several nieces and nephews, many extended family and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, VA. Interment with military honors will follow at Reedy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Freeman, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Barbara Jean Wortham Baird

Barbara Jean Wortham Baird, age 61, of Alberta, VA, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 4, 2021. She was preceded in death by her father, Lacy James Wortham and her husband, Keith Baird. Barbara is survived by her mother, Jean Rickmond; siblings, Rusty Wortham (Maureen), Jo Ann Anderson (Donald), and Scott Wortham (Pam); nephews, Brent Anderson, Michael Wortham, Steven Wortham, and Christopher Wortham; niece, Julie Wortham; great-niece, Ava Wortham; as well as her beloved dogs, Bubba and Sammie. Gloria Jean Malone Anderton

Gloria Jean Malone Anderton, 78, of Lawrenceville, VA, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond. She was predeceased by her parents, Paul C. and Edith Moore Malone. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Clifton F. Anderton, Jr.; numerous cousins, among them, Barbara C. Lee, Dale M. Cannon, Teresa M. Carpenter, Nicole C. Clary, and Christina C. Daniels; Goddaughter, Haylee N. Clary, as well as many friends. Gloria Jean, along with her husband, owned and operated Paul Malone’s Store for many years until their retirement. She also retired from the Department of Corrections. She was a longtime member of Edgerton United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Oakwood Cemetery, Lawrenceville. Joe Wesley Mayton, age 73, of Matoaca, VA, died Sunday, March 28, 2021. Willie Ann Spence, age 86, a lifelong resident of Lawrenceville, VA and widow of Sherman Randolph “Buster” Spence, died Thursday, March 25, 2021. She was one of five children born to the late Jesse Nathaniel and Artie Hayes Crowder. She loved her dog and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds, but will be remembered most as a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Spence is survived by her sons, Randolph Alan Spence, William Dale Spence, Sherman Jeffrey Spence and wife, Mary, and Jesse Dean Spence and wife, Angie; grandchildren, William Matthew Spence, Daniel Aaron Spence, and Jacob Thomas Spence; great-grandchildren, Noah Michael Denton and Morgan Gray Spence; step-grandson, Jonathan Foster; siblings, Otellia Wilkins, Juanita Floyd and husband, Carter, Thomas Crowder and wife, Carolyn, and Louise Mitchell and husband, Ray, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Shelby Jones Gibson

Shelby Jones Gibson, age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2021 at her home. A longtime resident of Lawrenceville, VA, she was a retired sewing machine operator. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Lawrence Jones, Sr. and Rosa Belle Mullins Jones; a sister, Dorothy J. Farlow; and a brother, Richard L. Jones, Jr. She was widowed by Arthur B. Coley and Carlton W. Gibson. Mrs. Gibson is survived by her daughters, Jeanette J. Bollinger and Jane J. Wood; step-sons, Tony Gibson, David Gibson, Mike Gibson, and Timmy Gibson, as well as a host of other family members and friends. Rebecca LaVonne "Becky" Powell Moore

Rebecca LaVonne “Becky” Powell Moore was born into the arms of her parents, Hilliard Randolph Powell, Sr. and Annie Maude Ingram Powell, on January 3, 1946. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 12, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Randolph Powell, Jr. of Emporia, and her daughter, Lisa Moore of La Crosse, and many other relatives. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas E. Moore of the home; their son, Timothy Moore and wife, Liz of La Crosse; grandsons, Michael Moore and Keisha, James Moore and Paisley, and a great-granddaughter, My’Asiya Moore, all of La Crosse; her brother, Thomas Powell and wife, Polly, of Baskerville; and sisters-in-law, Julia Clary of Brodnax, Dorothy Melton and husband, Billy of Ringgold, and Mabel Powell of Emporia; special cousins who were more like siblings, Jasper Powell of South Hill, Millie Tuck of Freeman, Yvonne Tallini and Jane Guiles of New York. Becky wanted to say a special thank you to Julie Washburn, Monty Raney, Helen Clary, Will, Katherine and Little Bobby Ford, Betsy Ford, and Sheryl Baird. Also a big thank you to Carolyn and the Massey Center in South Hill for their patience, kindness, and helpfulness during her treatment of Mylofibrosis. Also a special thank you to Marie Hightower and the VCU Hospice group for their patience, helpfulness, and all the necessities and quick response when called upon over the last few weeks. Becky enjoyed reading, family history adventures, spending time with family and friends, and listening to music, especially Mercy Me. She would often say she felt more at peace when she was sitting in church. She sat with the elderly and helped them in any way she could. She often spoke of her days working at the shoe factory. Lisa Lynette Moore, born May 7, 1967 to Thomas E. and Rebecca Powell Moore, passed away on March 5, 2021. A graduate of Brunswick County High School, she worked for Moseley & Nash Inc. and Fox Run Water in past years, and most recently at South Hill Elementary School. She is survived by her father, Thomas E. Moore (the late Rebecca “Becky” P. Moore”; a brother, Timothy Moore and wife, Liz; two nephews, Michael Moore and Keisha, James Moore and Paisley, and a great-niece, My’Asiya Moore all of La Crosse; three aunts, Julia Clary of Brodnax, Dorothy Melton and husband, Billy, of Ringgold, and Mabel Powell of Emporia, and many other relatives. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Reedy Creek Baptist Church in Freeman, VA, with Pastor Monty Raney officiating. Amy Howard Wilson

Amy Howard Wilson, 65, of Petersburg, VA; formerly of South River, NJ; passed away peacefully on February 28, 2021. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 28,1955 to John and Dolores Howard. The family moved to NJ in 1966. Amy graduated from St. Mary’s High School in South Amboy, class of 1973. Amy attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and PACE University in NYC. She worked at Sotheby’s NYC and AT&T in Bridgewater. Amy voiced the character of Nova on the Star Blazers Animé series and had quite a fan following. She enjoyed attending Animé conventions, speaking on panels and connecting with fans of the show. Amy had a very big heart and a generous spirit. She loved people and would start up a friendly conversation with anyone. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Dolores Howard, and her brother, Larry Howard. She is survived by her husband, David, her sisters, Kathy Hogya and Phyllis Donlon, her brother-in-law, Ed Donlon, sister-in-law, Anne McClaren, her nieces and nephews, Lisa Hogya, Cheryl Males (Jon), Eddie Donlon, Hannah Donlon, Matthew Donlon, Abigail Donlon, and grand nephew, Manny Males.
